A doctor travels to you anywhere in Pune, examines the patient in person, explains what is wrong, writes the prescription there and then, and sets up tests or a nurse if the case calls for it. For fever, infection, parents who cannot face the journey, and recovery at home.

A doctor visit at home, also called doctor on call, is a consultation where a qualified doctor comes to the patient's residence instead of the patient travelling to a clinic. The doctor takes a history, examines the patient, checks vitals, reaches a working diagnosis, writes a prescription and arranges blood tests, nursing or a specialist referral where those are needed.

The commonest reason families in Pune book a visit. For an elderly parent the clinic means stairs, an auto or a rickshaw, a waiting room full of coughs and an hour on a hard chair. More often than not the trip gets put off until the problem has grown.
A visit at home also reveals what a consulting room hides. What is really in the fridge. Whether there is anything to grip in the bathroom. How many strips are open at once, and whether two of them turn out to be the same drug under different brand names, which happens constantly once a patient has been through several doctors.
If the visit uncovers something that needs ongoing support rather than tablets, the doctor will tell you plainly, and a nurse or an attendant can be arranged off the same assessment.
